If you're interested in reserving a model of the exclusive special edition ID.3 1ST but have some questions about the reservation process, then you've come to the right place. Here, we answer all of your most frequently asked questions.
ID.3 pre-booking is the exciting opportunity for customers to reserve access to the "priority ordering window" of the limited edition launch trim of the ID.3 called ID.3 1ST edition with a €1,000 refundable reservation fee.
We plan to open the priority ordering window for our pre-booking customers early 2020. We will inform all our pre-bookers by email closer to the exact dates.
We will deliver the 1ST edition vehicles to our customers from summer 2020. Your Volkswagen retailer will inform you about your personal delivery date after you have placed your order in 2020.
Once you have placed a reservation fee, you will receive a unique pre-booking reference number which will be needed to place an order of the ID.3 1ST edition when it becomes available. You will be sent this via email or you can view the reference number at any time in the pre-booking website via your personal dashboard. We will keep you up to date via e-mail (if you have provided the marketing permissions) of ID.3 model information when it becomes available during 2019 and will invite you to place an order during our "priority ordering window" in early 2020.
Yes, of course. As long as no contract of order has been entered into with a Volkswagen retailer, you can cancel your pre-booking online at any time. All refunds will be made by the payment method and to the card which you used to pay the reservation fee. Simply log in to the pre-booking website with your Volkswagen ID and cancel. The pre-booking amount will be refunded in full.
Volkswagen will be unveiling the ID.3 and the 1ST edition in September 2019 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Detailed pricing and specification will be made available to pre-bookers before the priority ordering window opens.
Refunds will typically take up to 10 working days to be processed by our payment partner. A confirmation email will be sent to you to confirm the cancellation. Refunds will be made by the payment method and to the card which you used to pay the reservation fee.
The ID.3 1ST edition is our limited edition launch trim and is differentiated from other trims by exclusive design features on the exterior and in the interior. More information will be available prior to the priority ordering window.
The Volkswagen ID is your key to all future digital services from Volkswagen. It is necessary in order to log in to your personal Volkswagen account and the pre-booking website.
Unfortunately the pre-booking website only allows individuals to place 1 pre-booking. If you wish to discuss ordering multiple ID.3's please speak to our fleet business centre to discuss your needs. A preferred Volkswagen retailer will need to be selected during pre-booking. You will be able to change your preferred Volkswagen retailer prior to placing your order via your personal dashboard on the pre-booking website.
You can discuss this question with your Volkswagen retailer when finalising the order during the priority ordering window. Your Volkswagen retailer will inform you about possible payment options and terms.
We plan to keep the priority ordering window open to pre-bookers for 2 months.
The reservation fee payment of €1,000 will be refunded by the payment method and to the card which you used to pay once you have placed your order.
All information about the ID.3 1ST edition including pricing will be made available before we open the priority ordering window and before you are asked to place an order.
As a pre-booker you get prioity access to the special ID.3 1ST edition with a choice of colours. No additional features can be added as this is a limited edition high spec launch trim. Other ID.3 models will be available later in 2020 to all customers after the pre-booking priority ordering window closes.
Placing a reservation fee now gives customers access to the priority ordering window for the ID.3 1ST in advance of the general open for order date. Other ID.3 vehicle trims will be available to non pre-bookers after this window.
No. We will inform you by email when the ID.3 1ST edition is available for order. You can then visit your preferred Volkswagen retailer and present your pre-booking reference number. At this point your preferred retailer will place the order for you.
You can only reserve one ID.3 1ST model per individual.
Your pre-booking reference number is linked to you personally and cannot be transferred.
Unfortunately not. A Volkswagen retailer cannot make the pre-booking for you. This can only be made online using your Volkswagen logon via the pre-booking website.
We will refund all the reservation fees paid online by customers who paid a reservation fee but did not place a order for the production vehicle during the priority ordering window.
Unfortunately there will not be physical vehicles available, so it is not possible to test drive the vehicle prior to pre-booking or ordering. If you would like to test drive, you will need to wait for the general open for ordering of all trims later in 2020.

Unfortunately not. Your pre-booking reference number is non transferable to alternate models and only valid for the ID.3 1ST edition. You would need to cancel and pre-book.
