The new Passat GTE with plug-in hybrid technology is ultra-economical as well as high-performance. With its convenient electrical range, it’s a visionary, conscious mode of transport. And it looks good, too.

GTE mode

Driving pleasure at the touch of a button

Whether purely electric or as a combination of an electric motor and a combustion engine, with the Passat GTE you can simply select the type of drive by pushing a button. In GTE mode, the force of both drives is bundled, which ensures a particularly high torque. With the so-called "Boost", the electric motor works together with the TSI direct petrol injection engine which is then unmistakable due to the typical engine sound that is produced when GTE mode is activated. And not infrequently by the driver’s cheering.

Plug-in hybrid

Double the drive. Double the driving pleasure.

The new Passat GTE is a plug-in hybrid with an electric motor and TSI petrol engine. Start off in the locally zero-emission, quiet e-mode where only the electric motor is running. Activate GTE mode using the button and combine the power of both engines with the ‘boost’ function.
This allows you to achieve a system performance of 160 kW (218 PS) with a torque of up to 400 Nm and acceleration of 0 – 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds. And reach a maximum speed of up to 225 km/h.

Your smartphone plays the key role

With the mobile key, it's quick and easy to open and start your new Passat GTE using your smartphone. You can also send the mobile key to friends and family members via a secure connection and allow them to use your Passat GTE too.¹ Two key licences, each valid for one year, are available to start with. You can purchase additional keys in the web shop or directly from your new Passat GTE.¹How many is up to you.

1.Only available with the optional navigation system “Discover Pro” and in conjunction with the We Connect app. Two free mobile keys are available to start with and can be redeemed within the first four years following conclusion of the We Connect contract. The transfer of a mobile key requires a key sender identity check through the Volkswagen Ident procedure. Following installation on a compatible smartphone, the mobile key has a one-year validity period tied to the device.

To be honest, when it comes to useful services, you can’t get enough. That's why We Connect Plus¹ offers additional smart functions for your new Passat GTE. From intelligent navigation with real-time information, media streaming and Internet radio, as well as using your smartphone as a remote control for practical vehicle functions – for even better comfort and entertainment.

¹To use the We Connect services, a customer needs a Volkswagen ID user account and has to log in to We Connect with username and password. A separate We Connect or We Connect Plus contract must also be concluded online with Volkswagen AG. For We Connect Plus, following vehicle handover, you have 90 days in which to register the vehicle with Volkswagen AG and use the services for the full duration of the agreed free period.

Want to use your smartphone safely and easily during your journey? With Car-Net App-Connect selected apps and content are shown on your infotainment system display. You can then control them via touchscreen within your line of vision. This allows you to access things like music, maps or audiobooks. We currently offer three interfaces for connecting with smartphones, with numerous options: Apple CarPlay TM Android Auto TM by Google and MirrorLink.®

Driving Assistance Systems

Adaptive Cruise Control

Keeps a distance. And to speed limits.

ACC adaptive cruise control prevents you from exceeding a pre-set top speed² and enables you to maintain a minimum distance to the vehicle in front. In conjunction with an optional navigation system, ACC also offers predictive speed control and curve assistance. The system helps you to avoid overspeeding by integrating official speed limits1. Based on route data from the navigation system, the system also adjusts the speed of the car to curves, intersections and roundabouts¹.

Park Distance Control with manoeuvre braking

Keep your eyes open as you park – and your ears

Hard-to-see parking space? Park Distance Control as standard indicates to you whether there is enough room in front of or behind the new Passat GTE by beeping and showing a graphic in the infotainment system display. The integrated manoeuvre braking function can prevent a collision or at least minimise its severity when reversing at up to 10 km/h.
