AdBlue® is an odourless urea solution used in diesel models with SCR technology. It reduces harmful nitrogen oxides in diesel vehicle emissions. What do you have to do? When the display lights up or after several thousand kilometres, you can simply top up with AdBlue® and enjoy the benefits.
Depending on driving style and model, your Volkswagen uses an average of 1.5–2.8 l AdBlue® per 1,000 km. An indicator light will indicate when you have to refill – 2,400 km and 1,000 km beforehand.
Is a warning or indicator lamp illuminated in the vehicle display and you don’t have your printed owner’s manual to hand? Please take a look online in the Digital Manual or visit our Warning and indicator lamps page.
In addition to their lower nitrogen oxide emissions, AdBlue® vehicles can be identified by a separate filler neck. Depending on the model, it is located next to the diesel filler neck either in the luggage compartment or engine compartment – as an operating fluid, AdBlue® has to be filled separately.
