 What is Connectivity?

Volkswagen’s connectivity services connect your vehicle to the Internet, offer you more convenience and entertainment and could help you in an emergency. They allow you to obtain swift assistance when your vehicle breaks down, travel information almost in real time, entertainment from streaming and Internet Radio or a reminder of your next service on request. You can also keep track of many important services and information on your vehicle using your smartphone.

VW Connect

The latest generation of mobile online services. In all VW Connect⁠ or previously We Connect⁠-ready vehicles, you are online from the outset with your permanently installed eSIM card.

    *Range determined in the ID.5 Pro version with equipment most favourable to range with infotainment package and with 77 kWh net battery power on the chassis dynamometer. In practice, the actual range varies depending on factors including driving style, speed, use of convenience/auxiliary equipment, outside temperature, number of passengers/additional load, topography and the battery's age and wear process.

With the Car-Net online services for older vehicles, you reach your destination quicker and stay well-informed at all times. Real-time traffic data, current filling station prices and the available parking spaces display help with this. You can also use your smartphone to control specific vehicle functions remotely with ease.⁠

To use the VW Connect / VW Connect Plus or We Connect / We Connect Plus services, you must have a Volkswagen ID user account and need to log in with your username and password. Once the Volkswagen ID user account has been successfully set up and linked to your vehicle, you can use the vehicle-, country-, software- and equipment-specific digital services for an initial contract period free of charge. For this purpose, a separate VW Connect / VW Connect Plus or We Connect / We Connect Plus contract must be concluded with Volkswagen AG online at www.myvolkswagen.net or via the “Volkswagen” app (available in the App Store and Google Play Store). Alternatively, you can use this service with a mobile device (e.g. smartphone) with the ability to function as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. In this case, the corresponding function of the service is only available subject to an existing or separate mobile phone contract between you and your mobile network operator and only within the coverage area of the respective mobile network. The term “VW Connect” will be used subsequently to represent both systems.     The stated consumption and emissions data is not based on a single individual vehicle and is not part of the offer, but serves solely to facilitate comparisons between different types of vehicles. Additional equipment and accessories (attachments, tyre format, etc.) could change relevant vehicle parameters, such as weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics. As well as weather and traffic conditions and personal driving style, these add-ons could also affect a vehicle’s fuel consumption, power consumption, CO2 emissions and performance.

    The mobile online services are available for the agreed contract period and may be subject to substantive changes during the contract period. The services included in the We Connect and We Connect Plus or VW Connect and VW Connect Plus packages may vary by country.     To use the Car-Net services, you need a Volkswagen ID user account and need to log in with your username and password. A separate contract must also be agreed online with Volkswagen AG. To use the services for the full period, you have 90 days after vehicle handover in which to register the vehicle at www.myvolkswagen.net or using the Volkswagen app (available in the App Store and Google Play Store). If you register at a later date, the duration of the free period will be reduced accordingly. The ‘Guide & Inform’ mobile online services of Car-Net can only be used with the optional equipment Discover Media and Discover Pro. You also need a mobile, Internet-ready end device (e.g. a smartphone) that is capable of acting as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. Alternatively, a mobile phone with remote SIM Access Profile (rSAP) or a SIM card with a phone and data option can be used with the ‘Business’ mobile phone interface option in combination with the Discover Pro navigation system. The Car-Net services are only available with an existing mobile data contract or one to be agreed separately between you and your mobile data provider and only within the coverage of the mobile data network concerned. Additional fees (for example, roaming charges) may arise when exchanging data over the Internet, depending on your particular mobile phone rate and especially when using the service abroad. Given the volume of data which arises when using Car-Net services, agreeing a data flat rate with your mobile data provider is strongly recommended. A smartphone with a suitable iOS or Android operating system and SIM card with data option with an existing mobile data contract or one to be agreed separately between you and your mobile data provider is required to use the free Volkswagen app. The availability of the Car-Net services may vary by country. These services are available for the agreed contract period and may be subject to substantive changes during the contract period.     Only available in conjunction with the radios “Composition”, “Composition Colour”, “Composition Media” and “Ready 2 Discover” or the navigation systems “Discover Media”, "Discover Pro" and "Discover Pro Max". In principle, App-Connect enables the use of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto technologies. Both technologies are the responsibility of Apple and Google, whereby Volkswagen AG has no influence on country-specific availability of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and therefore the availability of the relevant technology may vary according to country. The availability of Apple CarPlay can be found at https://www.apple.com/ios/feature-availability/#apple-carplay and the availability of Android Auto can be found at https://www.android.com/auto/. The functions may be subject to changes to content or may be ceased during the contract period. To avoid distraction, only certified apps can be started during the journey. In this context, please also be aware that some apps are not offered for each of the two technologies.
