SEAI EV Grant Reduction

Changes to the SEAI EV grant for privately purchased electric vehicles

In Ireland, privately purchased electric vehicles with a list price of €60,000 or less qualify for an ‘SEAI Grant’ of up to €5,000. This grant is typically organised on your behalf via your retailer/dealership. It means that in many cases the final price of your electric vehicle is reduced by €5,000.

However, as announced by the Department of Transport on 22nd March 2023, this grant will be reduced from €5,000 to €3,500 for orders placed from 1st July 2023, effectively increasing the final price of many new electric vehicles in Ireland by €1,500. Qualifying electric vehicles ordered before this deadline will have a four month window in order to be registered.

If you are currently considering an electric vehicle, please take note of this information to ensure the best price can be secured. There is strong stock availability of the best-selling ID. range across the entire Volkswagen retailer network plus fantastic ‘241’ offers with low-rate PCP finance.
