In-car shop and in-car apps - How it works

Purchase and download handy functions and services straight from the In-Car Shop2 in your infotainment system - just like you’re used to doing with your smartphone. It’s even easy to extend the VW Connect Plus or We Connect Plus service packages for your vehicle via the In-Car Shop or the Volkswagen Connect shopOpens an external link, so you can enjoy using the whole range of VW Connect and We Connect1 mobile online services for an additional one or two years.

AirConsole – gaming on board

As a VW Connect Plus customer with a minimum of ID. Software 4.0, you can transform the infotainment system into a games console with AirConsole3 and get a  wide variety of games on board. The display acts as the screen and your smartphones become the controllers. So a break on your holiday travels becomes a fun gaming session for everyone.

With VW Connect and We Connect for your ID.5, you can make charging management easier, control selected vehicle functions via your smartphone and use traffic information almost in real time to help get you through the day with ease.

When you buy a new vehicle, you have the opportunity to use digital services from VW Connect / VW Connect Plus or We Connect / We Connect Plus for the free initial contract period. To use the VW Connect / VW Connect Plus or We Connect / We Connect Plus services, you must have a Volkswagen ID user account and need to log in with your username and password. Once the Volkswagen ID user account has been successfully set up and linked to your vehicle, you can use the vehicle-, country-, software- and equipment-specific digital services for an initial contract period free of charge. For this purpose, a separate VW Connect / VW Connect Plus or We Connect / We Connect Plus contract must be concluded with Volkswagen AG online at www.myvolkswagen.net or via the “Volkswagen” app (available in the App Store and Google Play Store). The actual length of the free contract period depends on when you activate the digital services. From the ninetieth day after initial delivery at the latest, the free initial contract period will begin to reduce automatically. You can view the exact contract period for your specific vehicle on myVolkswagen www.myvolkswagen.net. For customers with VW Connect and VW Connect Plus: The use of mobile online services is enabled by means of an integrated Internet connection. For the use of the Wi-Fi hotspot, data plans can be purchased from the external mobile communications partner Cubic Telecom and used in the network coverage area within many European countries. The data in these plans can be used by all users and vehicle occupants. You can find information on conditions, prices and supported countries at vw.cubictelecom.com. Alternatively, you can use this service with a mobile device (e.g. smartphone) with the ability to function as a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. In this case, the corresponding function of the service is only available subject to an existing or separate mobile phone contract between you and your mobile network operator and only within the coverage area of the respective mobile network. Additional fees (for example, roaming charges) may arise when exchanging data on the Internet, depending on your particular mobile phone rate and especially when using the service abroad. For customers with We Connect and We Connect Plus: The use of mobile online services is enabled by means of an integrated Internet connection. With the Touareg from model year 2024, there is also a connection to the knowledge database Wikipedia for the languages German, English (UK), Spanish, French and Italian. For these languages, the “ChatGPT” artificial intelligence is also integrated (connection to Chat GPT Version 40 mini). Note: ChatGPT answers may vary, contain incomplete, inaccurate or irrelevant information, and infringe upon third-party rights. Accordingly, do not rely on the answers without checking them based on other sources of information. Furthermore, make sure that the use or dissemination of the responses, e.g. on social media or online, does not infringe upon any third-party rights (particularly copyrights or data protection rights).

To obtain Upgrades, you need a Volkswagen ID user account, a valid VW Connect / We Connect contract and your primary user verification, i.e. the link between your user account and the specific vehicle. Your vehicle also needs to have the technical function, hardware and software required for the relevant Upgrade. The availability of Upgrades may also depend on the model year and production date. The upgrades available for the specific vehicle can be viewed by the primary user depending on the model in the infotainment system In-Car Shop or the Volkswagen Connect Shop at https://connect-shop.volkswagen.com. Paid-for products can be purchased in the In-Car Shop and/or the Volkswagen Connect shop with the payment methods that are currently available and can be viewed there. The availability of Upgrades functions may vary between the web shop and In-Car Shop. Your Volkswagen dealership is also happy to advise on questions regarding Upgrades and their availability. Purchased and activated Upgrades remain with the vehicle for the duration of the activation period, can be used by all drivers and cannot be transferred to other vehicles.

The mobile online services are available for the agreed contract period and may be subject to substantive changes during the contract period. The services included in the We Connect and We Connect Plus or VW Connect and VW Connect Plus packages may vary by country. Availability also depends on vehicle model, equipment and software version installed. This also applies to third-party services. The stated consumption and emissions data is not based on a single individual vehicle and is not part of the offer, but serves solely to facilitate comparisons between different types of vehicles. Additional equipment and accessories (attachments, tyre format, etc.) could change relevant vehicle parameters, such as weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics.
