Information on the 20DY recall campaign
Your safety is our top priority. That is why we are urgently requesting your cooperation with the following campaign.
As you were told in the previous 20DP recall campaign, tests have shown that in some Touran vehicles with natural gas drive corrosion may develop in the area of the two rear gas cylinders, which is only partially visible from the outside. At an advanced stage, this corrosion can cause the material to weaken and one of the gas cylinders to burst, especially when filling up with fuel. If this happens, there is a significant risk of injury with risks to life and limb.
For this reason, we requested in the previous 20DP recall campaign that you contact a Volkswagen Retailer so the two rear gas cylinders can be deactivated in order to prevent the risk of them bursting.
At the same time, Volkswagen AG announced that it would get in touch with you as soon as a technical solution has been found for your deactivated gas cylinders. There is now a technical solution for the rear gas cylinder mounting frame. The mounting frame on your vehicle is adapted to enable test organisations to conduct a visual check of all areas of the gas cylinders. All gas cylinders are checked for corrosion when the mounting frame is adapted. Gas canisters with no corrosion are reactivated and those with corrosion are replaced.
