The countdown to the future.

The I.D. will be launched as a compact-class electric vehicle in 2020.

The I.D. is Volkswagen’s first compact car to be based on the newly-developed all-electric architecture. It will have a range of up to 600 kilometres on a single battery charge. With the I.D., you will be able stay at home while you’re on the road, as Volkswagen’s Home-Net will make it possible for you to connect your car to your apartment or house. From 2025, the I.D. will have fully automated driving on command.

The first electrically driven CUV.

The new I.D. CROZZ concept car combines the supremacy of an SUV with the dynamism of a coupé.
ID Crozz

The new I.D. CROZZ is a crossover between an SUV and a four-door coupé that Volkswagen has further improved to bring it closer to series production. With a wide bonnet, clearly contoured wing panel and a high gloss back roof surface, the I.D. CROZZ makes a powerful and masculine statement.

The interior – the Open Space – with its generous amount of room and highly flexible seating concept, has been enhanced with a range of new features. As the I.D. CROZZ has no B-pillars, the large pivoting and sliding doors can open wide, allowing the driver to transport even a cyclocross bike easily.

The new Volkswagen CleanAir System ensures that the air in the interior is always pleasant to breathe, regardless of the environmental conditions. The menu informs the driver about both the air quality within the car and the system’s current activity. The improved I.D. CROZZ also features a new voice assistant that can open and close the doors with a simple spoken command. Other commands can activate and deactivate the fully-autonomous “I.D. Pilot” mode.

The new I.D. CROZZ has it all – it’s a sporty, interactive, emissions-free vehicle with an electric 4MOTION all-wheel drive system that feels perfectly safe even on loose surfaces and in adverse weather conditions. There is an engine on each of the front and rear axles, and power distribution is regulated via an electric propshaft. The 225 kW (system power) SUV has a range of 500 kilometres (NEDC) per battery charge.

With a centrally integrated battery and two drive units in the front and rear, the I.D. CROZZ’s weight is perfectly balanced. This means that it boasts handling features on a similar level to that of a Golf GTI. A considerable proportion of this is due to the running gear with electronic damping control, a newly developed multi-link rear suspension and new MacPherson suspension struts.

Tomorrow’s camper van will drive itself.

The I.D. Buzz is the world’s first multivariable electric van with a fully automated driving mode.
ID Buzz

It’s a real space sensation with up to eight seats and two luggage compartments. It has LED “eyes” instead of headlights and opens them when it starts up. When it wants to turn off a road, the LED headlights flash in the direction of travel. When it registers people at the edge of the road it looks at them. The vehicle’s electric range is 600 km (NEDC). The battery uses inductive charging or can be connected to a charging station. The battery reaches 80% capacity after 30 minutes of charging at 150 kW (DC).

The I.D. BUZZ is a real space sensation thanks to its electric drive, boasting room for up to eight seats as well as two luggage compartments – one at the front and another at the rear. The steering wheel has been completely redesigned. The vehicle interior does not have any spokes or buttons, but instead features a kind of touchpad with capacitive sensors.

The future I.D. BUZZ Pilot will be navigated using the AR head-up display. This will project informational graphics, such as navigation direction arrows, into the driver’s field of view on the windscreen, appearing to be some 7 to 15 metres ahead.
